Contemporary art: Meriam Benkirane's "Factory of Hope" in Marrakech
Exhibition From 23 October to 28 November 2026, Galerie 38 in Marrakech hosts Factory of Hope, the new solo exhibition by Moroccan artist Meriam Benkirane. In a world saturated with information, crises, and technological upheavals, the artist chooses to make painting a space of sensitive resistance. Through luminous compositions, imaginary architectures, and an assertive return to the pictorial gesture, she questions our ability to imagine a desirable future. An exhibition where the complexity of the contemporary world meets the need to rediscover time, emotion, and, above all, hope. How can we continue to believe in the future when the world seems to be moving faster than our ability to understand it? It is this question, as intimate as it is collective, that runs through Factory of Hope, Meriam Benkirane's new exhibition presented at La Galerie 38 Marrakech. At a time when ecological, geopolitical, and technological crises are succeeding one another, the artist seeks neither to illustrate the anxieties of her time nor to oppose them with naive optimism. She offers another way of looking at the world, of slowing down its pace and imagining what could still happen. Born in Casablanca in 1984, Meriam Benkirane has been developing for several years a plastic language that is immediately recognisable, nourished by architecture, the urban environment, and the complex systems that organise our societies.
